Comet 3KV Vertical Knee Mill, 3 HP, R-8 spindle. Serial no. 75225; manufactured mid-1980s (exact year unknown). Currently under power in Hayward, WI 54843; a short run video is included with the listing photos. Spindle speed is variable, 60–4250 RPM, with power feeds of .0015, .003, and .006 IPR. Motor is 3 HP, dual-voltage 230/480V, 3-phase, recently rebuilt (approximately 5–6 hours of use since rebuild); new belts and brake pads installed. Measured backlash: X ≈ 0.17", Y ≈ 0.021". Good working order, currently in use; holds tolerance for typical shop work. Normal cosmetic wear. Included: 17 used R-8 collets; used vise with handle and rotary base; dividing rotary head with three indexing plates and 3-jaw chuck; T-bolts and clamp set (fair condition); assorted used end mills, drills, taps, and centers.
